Thank you for visiting the home page of the Baltic Environmental Forum, called “BEF”.

The BEF was founded by the Baltic Ministries of Environment, Germany and the European Commission as a technical assistance project aiming at strengthening the co-operation among the Baltic environmental authorities.

With EU accession the technical assistance projects ended. However, to keep the networks active and to implement more projects in the Baltic Sea Region and Eastern Europe the BEF team has founded in 2003 NGOs in Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania and Germany. Together with the partner CTC St. Petersburg the organisations are united in the BEF group which implements environmental protection projects in the Baltic Sea Region and other regions of Eastern and South-Eastern Europe.

 

This website has been developed with support of the European Union NGO support programme 2007-08.

Dear visitor,

it is a pleasure for me to welcome you on the virtual portal of the Baltic Environ- mental Forum (BEF) Group.


 

We are a network of five non-governmental, non-profit organizations in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Germany, and Russia, jointly engaged in environmental protection around the Baltic Sea, but also beyond. We work in a broad range of environmental fields, covering such topics as nature conservation, chemicals, urban environment, waste and waste management.

Finding solutions for environmental challenges for us means: to have a holistic and comprehensive approach – across topics and across borders.
