The office of the BEF Latvia is located in the so called ‘Art nouveau’ district area of Riga, which is characterised by historically valuable buildings. The BEF Latvia team consists of a wide range of experts representing nature science, policy science as well as other social disciplines. Our experts primarily provide knowledge in the practical implementation and the implication of EU environmental policy fields – marine protection and biodiversity, hazardous substances in water, energy efficiency and climate change, waste prevention and urban environment. Furthermore, the integration with other sectors or policies (like spatial planning, city development, sustainable use of resources) is the issue where the BEF Latvia has gained one of the leading positions in our country. Additionally, the BEF Latvia represents the whole Baltic region in larger European scale projects, cooperates with neighbouring countries (including Russia, Belarus) and has contacts in the Balkan region.
